General Requirements
The app is designed for mobile phones with Android 7.0 and later or iOS 11.0 and later. While it can also be used on tablets, full compatibility is not guaranteed. To make the most of all features and understand how to use the app effectively, we recommend thoroughly reviewing the user manual.
Wi-Fi Requirements
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network with strong coverage in the area where the monitor will be used
- WPA1 or WPA2 security (WPA2 is recommended)
- The device can only be paired and used with one Wi-Fi network (SSID) at a time.
- If you’re unsure whether your router meets these requirements, we recommend contacting your network administrator.
Can the baby monitor work without the app?
No, the baby monitor must be used with the ETA SMART app to access its full range of monitoring features and options for your baby.
Pairing the Baby Monitor
You can pair the baby monitor using one of two methods:
1) QR Code - the most secure method, where the app generates a QR code that you display to the monitor for pairing.
2) Automatic - the fastest method, where the monitor is detected automatically in pairing mode.
For the first-time pairing with your Wi-Fi network, follow the app’s instructions carefully. A detailed guide is also available in the Downloads section.
Basic Requirements:
- Active home Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) with strong signal;
- A smartphone or tablet with the ETA SMART app installed;
- Turn on the monitor, start the reset process, open the app, create an account, and follow the pairing instructions.
How to ensure successful pairing?
- Make sure to use supported versions of Android or iOS on your smart device.
- Ensure that you have a strong Wi-Fi signal where the monitor is placed.
If you encounter pairing issues, check the following:
- Ensure that the monitor is within the Wi-Fi signal range;
- The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) should contain only letters (a-z) and numbers (0-9), without special characters like "_", "-", "*", "@", "+", or spaces;
- If your router supports dual-band operation, we recommend disabling the 5 GHz band during pairing (you can re-enable it after);
- Turn off VPNs or firewalls on your phone, as they can interfere with communication between the monitor and your phone;
- Try using a different phone to rule out issues with the device you're currently using;
- If necessary, create a new account to rule out account activation issues;
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network and smartphone meet the app’s requirements;
- Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you intend to pair the monitor with;
- Try restarting your Wi-Fi router;
- If the reset button isn’t working, remove the SD card (if present) and try again;
- If one pairing method fails, try the other.
Dual Wi-Fi Network:
- If your router automatically switches between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz on the same SSID, this can cause pairing issues or disconnections. In this case, consider setting separate SSIDs for each band in your router’s settings;
- If you need assistance with this, contact your network administrator or IT specialist.
How can I share the baby monitor with other users?
- Each user must create their own account in the ETA SMART app;
- The first user to pair with the monitor will be the admin and can share the device with others;
- The admin should click "MORE" (pencil icon on the main screen), select "DEVICE SHARING," and then "ADD SHARING" to share the monitor. Complete the required fields ("Country/Region" and "Account Number").
Tips and Troubleshooting
The app freezes or stops responding.
Restart the app. If that doesn’t work, restart both the monitor and the router. Freezing can often be linked to issues with your internet connection. You can also try reducing the video quality from HD to SD.
Why do I get motion notifications even though nothing is moving in the room?
Sometimes small changes in the environment, such as shadows or reflections, can trigger motion alerts. You can adjust the motion sensitivity in the app or slightly change the camera angle to reduce this. Tip: If you have an SD card installed, set it to record based on events and keep motion detection active, so you can later review what triggered the alert.
The app was working fine, but now it’s unresponsive. What can I do?
This issue may be caused by recent changes to your phone (e.g., new apps or system updates) or your Wi-Fi network. If you can’t resolve it by undoing the changes, uninstall and reinstall the ETA SMART app.
Additional tips
- Set a strong password for your Wi-Fi network to prevent unauthorized access. A strong password should be at least 8 characters long and include uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers. Avoid using special characters like "~!@#$%^*-", as they might prevent the monitor from pairing;
- A red icon on the main screen means a function is active;
- The monitor can also be used to monitor pets or as part of home security, but it is intended for indoor use only;
- If you experience interference or weak signal issues, restart both the app and the monitor, and ensure the monitor is placed in an area with a strong Wi-Fi signal;
- Position the camera to cover the entire area where your baby will be;
- Adjust motion detection sensitivity based on the size of the room;
- Ensure that notifications are allowed on your phone to avoid missing important alerts;
- Regularly clean the camera lens for the clearest picture;
- Place the monitor out of reach of children;
- Enable human body detection for focused monitoring;
- Use motion tracking for larger areas;
- Set the camera to focus on specific zones to avoid false alarms;
- Protect the camera from direct sunlight to avoid image distortion;
- If you don’t want the camera to record, make sure the privacy mode is activated;
- Make sure the monitor is securely mounted and not at risk of falling;
- If notifications are delayed, check your internet connection settings;
- Ensure there’s enough storage on your mobile device for backup recordings;
- If you pass the monitor to another person along with an SD card containing recordings, format the SD card first to delete all data. Otherwise, the data will remain accessible to future owners.
